Radiofrequency Microneedling FAQ

Does RF Microneedling hurt?

We will provide you with a topical numbing cream approximately 30 minutes prior to your treatment to assure you’re as comfortable as possible. Majority of patients report little to no “pain” during the treatment, however, please always keep in mind everyone is unique in the way they experience sensations.

Can I wear makeup after?

Since patient downtime is minimal, makeup can be applied 1 to 3 days after the treatment. Patients should expect to see micro lesions a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to 1 week, if any, depending on treatment parameters & the patient’s own individual skin tolerance or sensitivity. It is strongly suggested to keep the area/s treated clean until the skin has had enough time to “heal”.

How long should I wait in between appointments?

4-6 weeks is the recommended time frame between treatments for optimal results.

How quickly will I see results from RF Microneedling?

Visible results can be seen within a few days, but typically after three weeks the most noticeable results appear. Improvements continue up to six months after treatment!

What areas can be treated with RF Microneedling?
Face. Neck.Chest. Arms.Legs.Abdomen.Buttocks.

How many treatments are needed?

Depending on your goals, you can expect to have between 1-5 sessions. Factors depend on how aggressive your treatment needs to be and the severity of laxity and skin quality. We recommend purchasing packages of a minimum of 3 for optimal results. Single session maintenance treatments are recommended approximately 1-2 times a year as soon as you feel the need for another session, should you even feel the need.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL FAQ

How much does laser hair removal cost?
All of our services are priced individually. That way you can select exactly what you want. Check out our Services page to find what you’re looking for, and you’ll see the price listed right next to it.
How many treatments do I need?
Results are unique to each individual. Typically 6-8 treatments are recommended, but it may be more or less.
Does it hurt?
It is much more comfortable than waxing. Many describe the sensation of the laser pulses as tiny little rubber band snaps, if they feel anything at all. Our laser (Cutera Excel HR) uses Sapphire contact cooling to provide continuous cooling, maximizing patient comfort while being treated, so you don’t have to feel the full intensity of heat.
Does it work for every skin type?

Yes! At fillir, we would never offer services that weren't safe and effective for all skin types.  We have both a YAG and an ALEX, which is safe for all skin types.
How often should I come back for treatments?
Hair grows in cycles, typically every 4-6 weeks depending on the part of the body, however, this will vary with each individual.
Do I need to shave in between appointments?
Yes, we require you to shave is 24-48 hours before your appointment. We ask that you wait 10 days after your treatment before shaving.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Most patients report 90 percent permanent reduction in hair growth but fluctuating hormones can make hair grow back. It is recommended to come back for a touch up every couple of years.
How do I prepare for my first treatment?
Stop waxing, shave the area, avoid sun exposure, check your medications, remove makeup or creams.

I've had 2 sessions and I am patchy- did my laser technician miss a spot?

You have hair follicles that are active and inactive. When you get the laser done you are killing your active hair follicles which will typically fall out somewhere between 1-4 weeks. When your hair does grow back in you might notice hairs are not as densely populated as before and some areas may be patchy
You have to keep getting laser treatments until you have less than 95% hair follicles growing. This is why laser hair removal takes several sessions- on average 6 but can vary from skin types and area of the body.

Can you get laser hair removal with blonde, red, or white hair?

Laser hair removal will work best on brunette and black hairs because these have a higher amount of pigment to be targeted by a laser. The lighter the hair (blonde, red, white), the less pigment it holds. Laser hair removal may not always work on faired hair people because there may not be enough pigment in the hair to target.

Why is it important for me to shave for my laser appointment? Why cant the laser technician do it?

You should cleanly shave atleast one day prior to your appointment Longer, thinner hairs are more likely to be in the laser’s path, so shaving before your appointment will help minimize the risk of burns and reduce the amount of time the laser is in contact with your skin. We do not shave onsite during your appointment because shaving too soon before laser hair removal can cause burns and increase sensitivity/discomfort to the laser.

Why do I have to stay out of the sun before and after my appointment?

It's best to avoid the direct sun 14 days leading up to your laser treatment and after. Exposure to the sun's UV rays cause pigment changes to skin that may not be treatable. After laser treatment your skin is sensitive. The skin will be healing from the “controlled injuries” from the laser’s micro beams. Skin may be red, swollen, and tender. Take the extra effort to protect your investment in the treatment and your skin. Your results will thank you!

Why do I look like I have more hair after my treatment?

The appearance of increased hair growth after laser hair removal can be concerning, but it’s important to understand that this is a normal part of the treatment process- this is called hair shedding!  Some patients may notice more hair 1 – 3 weeks after laser hair removal sessions as follicles in the growing cycle begin to shed. During this process, exfoliating the skin can help hairs shed faster, or they will just fall out on their own. Shedding is a good sign that the treatments are working!

Which laser hair removal device does fillir use?

We partner with Cutera to offer the best lasers on the market for our patients. You can read more about the ExcelHR here: excel® HR - Cutera Aesthetic Solutions
