Facial Balancing: The Art of Combining Fillers and Neurotoxins

In recent years, the field of aesthetic medicine has seen a significant shift towards a more holistic approach to facial rejuvenation. One of the most exciting developments in this area is the concept of facial balancing, which combines the use of dermal fillers and neurotoxins to achieve natural-looking, harmonious results. Let's dive into this innovative approach and explore how it's revolutionizing the world of cosmetic treatments.

Understanding Facial Balancing

Facial balancing is a comprehensive approach to facial aesthetics that aims to enhance overall facial harmony and proportion. Rather than focusing on individual features in isolation, this technique considers how different areas of the face interact and contribute to the overall aesthetic appearance.

Who is Facial Balancing for?

Anyone who’s bothered by facial asymmetry, volume loss, or disproportion is an ideal candidate for facial balancing—as is anyone who simply wishes to enhance their own natural features without surgery. At Fillir a complimentary consultation with one of our nurse injectors is always the first step when looking into Facial Balancing as there are a lot of factors to take into consideration. With that being said, for patients with more mature skin who have some laxity, we recommend combining facial balancing with other skin regenerative treatments, such as RF microneedling which is great for stimulating lost collagen and improving texture and tone.

 Facial Balancing Examples:

  • Lower facial balancing can help you define your jawline, smooth out wrinkles and create harmony between your chin, lips, and jaw.

  • Jaw filler and Lip Plump combo

  • Cheek and Jaw filler combo

  • Eyebrow lift and lip plump

The Role of Fillers

Dermal fillers, typically made of hyaluronic acid, play a crucial role in facial balancing. They are used to:

  • Restore lost volume in areas like the cheeks and temples

  • Smooth out deep wrinkles and folds

  • Enhance facial contours, such as the jawline and chin

  • Augment lips for a more youthful appearance

The Power of Neurotoxins

Neurotoxins complement fillers by:

  • Relaxing overactive muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles

  • Softening expression lines on the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes

  • Lifting certain areas of the face, like the brows or the corners of the mouth

The Synergy of Combination Treatments

When used together, fillers and neurotoxins can achieve results that neither can accomplish alone. This synergistic approach allows practitioners to:

  1. Address multiple concerns: Tackle both volume loss and dynamic wrinkles in a single treatment plan.

  2. Enhance longevity: The combination can often extend the duration of results.

  3. Achieve natural-looking results: By balancing different areas of the face, the overall effect is more harmonious and less "done."

  4. Customized treatments: At fillir, we tailor our approach and recommendation to each individual's unique facial structure and aesthetic goals.

What Should I Expect Before and After My Facial Balancing Appointment?

Before getting facial balancing done, you’ll discuss your current skincare routine with one of our providers prior to your treatment so they can advise on what products you should discontinue or keep using. At your consultation, your injector will create a treatment plan for you, which can be over the span of several weeks to months, as facial balancing is a journey, not a race. The day of the treatment, you'll want to come to the office with clean, dry skin, free of makeup and any other skincare products. You will then go over your facial balancing plan with your provider that is tailored to your goals and discuss what will be happening that day. The treatment itself should not last long and isn’t overly painful. Prior to injections you will have a topical numbing cream applied to the treatment area!

Afterward, your provider will offer specific post-treatment care instructions.  This may include gentle skin care, avoiding strenuous exercise, and applying cold compresses to reduce swelling. With that said, results are immediate and swelling is typically minimal, so in most cases you can go back to resuming your day-to-day activities as normal. If the treatment plan requires multiple visits to our med-spa, you will book your next facial balancing appointment. Allowing time for your filler and neurotoxins to fully settle is a very important part of facial balancing.

The Importance of Expertise

Facial balancing is as much an art as it is a science. It requires:

  • A deep understanding of facial anatomy

  • An artistic eye for proportion and balance

  • Extensive experience with both fillers and neurotoxins

  • The ability to create a personalized treatment plan for each patient

Conclusion

Facial balancing with fillers and neurotoxins represents a significant advancement in the field of aesthetic medicine. By taking a different approach to facial rejuvenation, this technique allows for more natural, harmonious results that enhance a person's inherent beauty. As with any cosmetic procedure, it's crucial to consult with a qualified and experienced practitioner to determine the best approach for your individual needs and goals.

Remember, facial balancing takes time. The key to successful facial balancing lies not in dramatic changes, but in subtle enhancements that work together to create a refreshed, youthful appearance while still looking like yourself.
